Here is my reflection for today. As many of my readers know, I’m a university student. Life is quite busy for me with school, my part-time job, research, this blog, clubs and more! I love my life, but at times it can get quite a bit overwhelming. It’s true that everyone feels like this and in the end, we have to figure out a way to deal with the issues that we have to deal with. But something that I realized today is that, if you go through everything you have to do in your life passively, without caring about why you are doing what you are doing, then nothing in your life will seem like its worth it. Everything you do should be something that is worth your time, and that’s why its important to treat everything you do like its your job.
My blog is one of my many “jobs”, because its my way of communicating with so many other people who care about about having about having a healthy lifestyle and good mental health. My part-time job is important to me because its service-related, as is the student organization I’m a part of. My positions as a student and a researcher are important because I love learning, and that is my main source of learning.
We’ve all taken classes, joined activities and other things that we later realize we do not enjoy very much. Sometimes, we keep going because we tell ourselves that we have to keep doing it. Sometimes, there is no way that you can get yourself to be committed to something that is so enjoyable, but other times, there is no way around it. I think in these situations, it’s important to shift focus from whether or not you enjoy these activities to how these activities help you grow- that’s what makes it worth it.
