2/17/18, Open Letter- Announcing My Podcast!

Dear readers,

I’m so excited to share this week’s letter with you all!

For those of you who follow me on Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter, you’ll probably have heard already that I’m launching a Podcast in June of 2018! I’m so beyond excited for this- my Podcast is going to allow me to speak about mental health with you all in a brand new way!

This podcast is also going to allow me to talk to you all about things that it’s been really hard for me to write about in my blog- for example, for the longest time, I’ve been wanting to talk to you all about the differences in the mental health challenges faced by people of color, specifically women of color! It was just this last week that a Club at my University, the Diversity in Psychology club, hosted a really great discussion on this topic. After hearing from other people of color, I think I finally have an idea on the type of topics that I can talk to you all about on that front! There are definetely so many interesting topics to explore here, including stigma against seeking help, attitudes towards mental health, and more.

Anyways in this letter I’m just going to be telling you all about what I have planned thus far for my podcast.

My weekly podcast episodes will be replacing this weekly letter that I write to you all- since I’m a student, I unfortunately will not be able to do both, but the good news is that every week, I’ll be talking about something new and exciting!

My podcast will be available through my blog, on YouTube, Soundcloud and iTunes, and will be completely free for anyone to listen to! I want the conversation about mental health to remain accessible to anyone and everyone, and so all I ask about my listeners is to make sure that you leave me reviews and constructive feedback so I can continue to be more effective at shaping the conversation.

As you’ll notice, Mental Health needs a community of voices, and that’s one of the biggest reasons why I’m creating this podcast! Since everyone has a different mental health experience, everyone has a different perspective to offer, and everyone’s perspective deserves to be shared! As I start recording before releasing my first series of podcasts in June, I’m going to need guest speakers and contributors for pretty much every episode and I’d love to work with anyone and everyone! If there is something specific you’d want to talk about, be sure to email me at handmadeheartsblog@gmail.com! I’d love to hear from you.

This is all the info I have to share about this week! Stay tuned this week for my post on stigma about mental health in the United States, coming up later this week!

I hope you all have a wonderful and positivity-filled week!

Yours truly,
